The Republic of Moldova develops and implements strategies and policies aimed at modernization<br \/>\nof the system of health and its harmonization with the European standards, makes endeavours\u00a0to enforce as much as possible the women\u2019s right to life, to reproductive health, taking into consideration the\u00a0recommendations of the World Health Organization and the provisions of Millennium Declaration.<br \/>\nThe Republic of Moldova is facing serious social-economic, political, labour force migration, public health\u00a0problems. Nevertheless, the Republic of Moldova took very ambitious commitments focussed on achievement\u00a0of MDG 5 \u2013 improve maternal health.From such a perspective, in addition to developing sector policies,\u00a0there is also need for developing and implementing policies intended to encourage civil society organizations\u00a0and business entities to involve intensely in the process of implementation of relevant activities for\u00a0reaching MDG 5 \u2013 Improve maternal health.<br \/>\nThe Report comes to the conclusion that progress towards reduction and stabilization of the maternal mortality<br \/>\nrate in the Republic of Moldova is due to implementation of a series of health care programmes by\u00a0Government (Ministry of Health) with the support of partners for development, such as regionalization\u00a0of perinatal health care, \u201cRiskless pregnancy\u201d project, establishing a nationwide network of reproductive\u00a0health services, compulsory health insurance provided by the State for pregnant and postpartum women,\u00a0establishing a network of integrated services for youth, etc.Two distinct chapters of this report analyze and\u00a0assess the contribution of civil society organizations and of private sector to achieving MDG 5 through such\u00a0activities, as policy promotion, service provision, information and education.
