The project "Strengthening Moldovan mass media capacity to report and monitor security sector reform and Transnistrian conflict settlement" was implemented by the Institute for Public Policy with the financial support from the National Endowment for Democracy between February and July 2012.
The Institute for Public Policy provided professional training to 30 Moldovan journalists and informational support (informational briefs for journalists) on the issues relating to the security sector reform and the Transnistrian conflict settlement. The trainings were adjusted according to the specific needs of media practitioners and covered practical aspects, such as simmulations and case studies. The project will contribute to the fostering of public debate and public advocacy for the progress in these important areas that will help the Republic of Moldova to reform and democratize.
The goal of the project is to contribute to security sector reform and the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict by fostering public debate on these issues in the Republic of Moldova.
Objective 1
To strengthen journalists' capacity to monitor and report on security sector reform and the frozen conflict in Transnistria.
Objective 2
To provide media outlets, stakeholders, and citizens with current information and resources related to security sector reform and the frozen conflict in Transnistria.
