Workshop on the relationship between the Court of Accounts and law enforcement bodies
24.10.2013, 16:07

The Institute for Public Policy and the Moldovan Court of Accounts held on October 17th a workshop on the relationship between the Court of Accounts and the law enforcement bodies.

The idea of such an event was generated by the low level of compliance with the Court’s recommendations, even if the Moldovan legislation provides that the “audit reports of the Court are official and binding on all public authorities and to all legal entities and individuals”. Also it was generated by the poor performance of the law enforcement bodies in punishing those responsible for wasting public money.

The legal base of the relationship between the Court of Accounts and the law enforcement bodies was analyzed during the workshop, also the good practices and the issues between the parties on penalizing those responsible for wasting public finances.

The event was attended by representatives of the Court of Accounts, the Prosecutor General Office and the National Anticorruption Centre and also academics.

The workshop was organized under the Project “The Court of Accounts’ Recommendations: Advocacy for Transparent and Efficient Use of Public Money” implemented by the Institute for Public Policy in collaboration with the Court of Accounts of Moldova.
